Trio Early Learning
3 Day GuaranteeAn exciting change making early learning more accessible and affordable for families.
From January 2026, Australian families will have access to at least 72 hours of subsidised early learning each fortnight. That’s three days of quality care every week, no matter your activity level. The 3 Day Guarantee provides more affordable early learning for more families. Because every child deserves the best possible start!
Children are at the heart of everything we do
With three days of consistent care, children have more time to build friendships, grow confidence, establish routines and develop the social and emotional connections to give them the best possible start in life. Our play-based programs spark curiosity, encourage creativity and give children a sense of belonging.
Affordability and accessibility
Big savings for families
There are significant savings for families that are not currently receiving the Child Care Subsidy due to the activity test requirements. For example:
- A family earning $90,000 per year, with only one parent working, would pay approximately $433 per week for their child to attend 3 days of early learning.
- With the new 3 Day Guarantee, this family would only pay approximately $62 per week.
- Estimate your new out-of-pocket cost with our childcare subsidy calculator.
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Families
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children are guaranteed 100 hours of subsidised care per fortnight, regardless of family circumstances, as this population is represented at higher than average rates in this area.
Trio Early Learning

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to do anything?
If you’re already receiving CCS, Services Australia will automatically apply the new hours from 5 January 2026 – no action required! If you’re not currently claiming CCS, you may now be eligible.
Do families have to book 3 days each week to get the subsidy?
No, the subsidy is granted based on up to 72 hours across a fortnight, or up to 3 days per week. This means a child can attend less than 3 days per week and still receive the subsidy for those days.
How is the new 3 Day Guarantee different from the current Child Care Subsidy (CCS)?
Currently, to be eligible for CCS, families must have a certain amount of activity hours, which is the numbers of hours parents spend in work, study, training, or other recognised activities. This determines the amount of CCS they can receive.
Under the new 3 Day Guarantee, the activity test is abolished for the first 72 hours of subsidised care per fortnight. This means all children, regardless of their parents’ employment status, will have access to at least three days of CCS-funded care per week.
Why is it called the 3 Day Guarantee?
72 hours of subsidised care per fortnight or 36 hours per week, provides at least 3 days of early learning. At Trio Early Learning, most of our centres offer an all day session (generally 10-12 hours), which means the 72 hours per fortnight would cover three full days of care per week.
Does 'Guaranteed' mean childcare will be free?
The CCS reduces the out-of-pocket cost of care, but families will still pay the gap fee. This is the difference between the CCS amount and the daily session fee. Trio Early Learning also has fee assistance programs available to families who need further support.
Can all families get subsidised care under the 3 Day Guarantee?
Families who meet the below criteria are eligible to receive the 3 Day Guarantee:
- Earn a combined household income less than $535,279, and
- Meet Australian residency rules
Can families still receive more than 3 days of subsidised care?
Families can access more subsidised hours of care if they:
- Work, study, or volunteer for more than 48 hours per fortnight
- Care for an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander child
- Receive Additional Child Care Subsidy (ACCS) for wellbeing, financial hardship, or grandparent care
